Location: Hohoe, Volta Region, Ghana
Team Members: Klu Judith Abran, Mary Adowa Donkor, Stephen Agbanyo, Charity Agbemor
In Ghana, drinking water is distributed in plastic bags called water sachets that account for the vast majority of the country’s plastic refuse and serve as a breeding ground for mosquitoes, the carriers of malaria. This team aimed at developing young people’s environmental stewardship by educating them about the negative effects of littering the sachets and providing trash receptacles at popular spots to collect them.
