Whether or not you apply for the T4PE Service Awards, you can apply for any of these other awards, too.

  

The annual Brower Youth Awards honor six young people for their outstanding activism and achievements in the fields of environmental and social justice advocacy. Each winner is awarded $3,000 and brought to San Francisco for the award week and a backcountry camping trip. (North America)

 

 

  

The International Young Eco-Hero Awards, given each year by Action for Nature, recognize the individual accomplishments of young people (ages 8-16) whose personal actions have significantly improved the environment. (International)

  

  

The Do Something Awards recognize youth who have identified a problem in their community and done something about it. (US/Canada)

  

  

  

  

Youth Service America, in partnership with the Disney Company, is proud to offer Disney Minnie Grants of up to $500 to promote youth involvement around the globe. There are two rounds of awards each year. Proposals are reviewed once in the months leading up to Global Youth Service Day and then again in the summer for projects taking place in October.

 

  

The Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks recognize the outstanding efforts of K-12 students and teachers who are working at the grassroots level to protect and preserve the environment with the SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Environmental Excellence Awards . (US)

  

  

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes honors outstanding young leaders who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet. Half of each year’s winners are chosen for their work to protect the environment. (US/Canada)

  

  

  

  

The Volvo Adventure rewards teams of teens that have performed environmental projects in their local communities. (International)

  

  

 

Plan and conduct your own scientific investigation, one that includes questions, hypotheses, and trips into the field to gather data. Describe your investigation in an essay that includes artwork and/or photographs. Then apply for the Young Naturalist Awards. (US/Canada)

  

  

 

GreenWorks! is the service-learning, community action program of Project Learning Tree (PLT) that partners PLT educators, students, and communities in environmental neighborhood improvement projects. GreenWorks! blends service activities with the academic curriculum and addresses real community needs as students learn through active engagement. (US)

  

The Siemens Foundation, Discovery Education and NSTA have launched the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge, an environmental sustainability challenge that encourages K-8 students to create and implement environmental change in their schools, homes and communities. The competition will expand to high school students in 2010. (US)

 

 

The Goi Peace Foundation and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) invite young people throughout the world up to 25 years of age to submit essays for the International Essay Contest for Young People. (International)
